Skin Design Contest for Independence Day

 

How to submit your skin?

Provided that you have your own forum and think it’s OK to show to all Aimoo users, we suggest you just edit your skin directly in your control panel. But if your forum is a private one or you don’t have any forum, just get started to create a new forum to edit & customize the skin as you like.


After designing, Send PM to us of your submission with the Skin name, link, thumbnail (Dimensions: 149x100), a brief intro(optional) and designer name(your Aimoo username). Below is an example,

Tips: if you don't know how to do a thumbnail of your submission, don't worry and leave it to us. We will make one for you.

Choosing Winners
After the submission deadline on June 28, 2009, we will choose the best 10-20 skins to have the qualification to be voted/judged by all Aimoo users on the Aimoo ShowOff Forum. The final choice will be made based on the vote result and how well the designers have customized the skin and made it best approach to the theme of Independence Day. The best one will have the opportunity to be placed to Aimoo’s Skin Library.

 

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded as Free Diamond Forum Service.


1 Best Designer

will be awarded 24 months Diamond Service with 1,000,000 PV worth $120.

3 Outstanding Designers

will be awarded 12 months Diamond Service with 400,000 PV worth $60.

 

Contest Dates
Start Date: June 18, 2009
Submission Deadline: June 28, 2009

Voting/Judging Starts: June 29, 2009
Voting/Judging Ends: July 2, 2009
Announcement of results: July 3, 2009

 

Entrants Rules
1. Any Aimoo User could participate in the Skin Design Contest for America's Independence Day.
2. Every User/Account could only submit one skin.

3. Designs must be original to qualify.

4. Each submission must be relevant to the theme of Independence Day, such as the color of Red White & Blue, fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, and traditions of the United States.

5. Don't include words in your images because Aimoo is used by people all over the world who do not speak English.

6. The forum submitted must be available to see for all Aimoo users.

7. Submissions can start at any time (and be updated as you like) but must be uploaded by June 28, 2009.

 

The information of this contest above may be changed at any time. Please check back often. Aimoo reserves the right to explain the terms of the Contest. Any questions, feel free to let us know.

You have a lot of Canadian members and our holiday comes first, any thoughts to having a contest for EITHER?  Ours is July 1st and USA is July 4th, it might be nice to have both?

It's a good idea. You could also design a skin about Canada holiday as you mentioned. That's also welcome.

You said that "Designs must be original to qualify". What does that mean? Do we have to draw it or take the picture ourselvs, or can we take an online background and slap it onto the forum? Or can we take online pics and photoshop 'em together?

Anything you could do including drawing yourself, finding any pics on Internet, but don't copy the others submission or the other forum hosting's skin.

To get a thumbnail, use a screenshot tool or your Photoshop could do it.
What you share is the skin not your forum content, so it's ok if your forum's based on Vietnamese. But please remember one of the rules

 Well I did my design it almost 4am now so I am off to bed LOL i done sent it in, I not sure how to do a thumbnail print for aimoos I still learning I came from MSN like everyone else did, but hopefully you be kind n help me in that department for i told u i didnt know how n help ..as for everything else u wnat i did like u said now it in Gods hands, and whomever wins best of luck to you..and may the Lord be with you today and for enternal life..Hugs Kitty

 you couldnt use ptu because it isnt allowed text and its in most ptu tou that all creations must have text on them a lot of ftu artist have the same rule so could be hard to do unless you can get written permisstion. thats if you want to follow terms of use that is lol

 you say that no text is to be used are we allowed to add artist credits ( if artist allows use for this reason ) if not its going to be really hard lol

Thank you, Admin for your prompt reply.  Skins created using the skin generator on our site are actually designed by the user and not the program.  The online program is merely a real time editor with an embedded automatic webset maker that makes the creation process a lot easier for designers by automatically writing the head and footer coding for the designer as he designs.

I have a couple of questions.

Are we just supposed to be doing the "Forum & Category" page or are we supposed to also do the "Thread page" too?

I'm new to this, I've never made a skin before, so I'm not sure which you're looking for in this contest.

And should it be not any pooled tiles that are shared by various people, but you create the tiles and coding from scratch yourself?

Also, if we only create a Canadian one, are we qualified for the prizes?  It says we may only create one skin per ID, so how can we do both?  I don't want to do the wrong one that isn't qualified. 

Also - do you want dial up friendly ones like your Aimoo skins have been, or the ones with lots of glitter/bling that may not open for some.
