RE:Here we go, Skins for Voting
(Date Posted:07/01/2009 9:28 PM)
Thank you Aimoo for choosing my skin for the top 15. I didn't expect to be included, but I did have some hope. I came home from the hospital this afternoon to find I made the top 15. Thank you very much. That was a very nice surprise.
This is my regular group that we spend our hours helping each other through some rough times. I removed my text of Happy Fourth of July in the header since the rules stated to not include text. My forum can be viewed by all Aimoo users since I set up a special category for all Aimoo Users to View. I made up a background for our Canadian friends who might come visiting. I was thinking of our Canadian Friends today. There is not many legal graphics to use for making up skins and backgrounds for Canada so that makes it very tough.
There are some fantastic skins that have been made. Congratulations to all of you. There is a lot of hard work in them.
Thank you to everyone that voted for my forum. If you want to visit again, there is a 4th of July tag and a Canadian tag for anyone to use. I had planned to add it before the contest started, but the trip to the hospital changed my plans for me. Please do not add to it, and please use it as is. Please leave me a message if you snagged these tags. I would love to hear from you.
Jacque

LOL I didn't get that Florida joke at first as I'm not American, but then I remembered the squabble with the one election in which Gore ran.
Cute pun!

I agree with twocrows, except there were two that gave credit to the artist that originally created the art that is allowed to be used in tags, web pages, skins with permission. #11 and #4 are the only ones that give credit to the artist. I know the other entry tiles were not made and created by themselves. It was originally created by an artist and they all go uncredited with the exception of the two. Janee

And I respectfully disagree with TwoCrows and you Janey and the reasons are twofold.
One, has anything thought to write to both Penny and TeddyBear Lane and find out if their definition of personal use includes the fact that the winner's tiles (if they won) could be put in the Aimoo library of skins?
Now what about people that use their own tiles, make things from scratch, are they supposed to credit themselves if they don't want to? Or those that use their own photographs? No one said they had to give credit to themselves. Yes photos by others, should be credited, I'll agree there.
But there are various aspects of this use of other people's art that doesn't fit Rule #3 to me. Original to me, meant you use your own tiles, not art created by some artist or tiles by other people.

Hello contestants and voters,
Thanks to all the owners of great skins for letting us enjoy seeing the their work !
Big Congrats from heart to the winners !
Thank you all that voted my skin set, #4, Happy 4th.
That was an honor to work with this theme and though I read the rule that the image shouldnt have wording, I used one on mine purposedly bacause it is an America's Independence Day skin and all the people choosing an aimoo patriotic skin are to be either Americans or non-Americans who know. what the July 4th is very well and therefore this theme should particularly have wording.
Wishing very good days and health to everyone and saying, " ... to the next contest, friends ! ".
Special thanks to my very dear friend Jacque who taught me everything I know.

I too am grateful to have been included, it really taught me a lot, I learned something new and I had fun creating my tiles.
Thank you to those that voted for me too! I never expected to be included, let alone win, so it was an honour.

Janee Janee...
I do have to take issue with your comment, which I hilighted in red for everyone's benefit.
I created all of the graphics in my USA skin from scratch, in Photoshop. The subdued flag in the background was from a photo that I took myself and modified. The head logo, the category bars and all of the forum icons were made by me. Anything that wasn't created by me were the remaining choices provided to me in Aimoo's skin editor.
Now, please... don't hold it against me for deciding not to toot my own horn over my entry by slathering my moniker all over it. My ego is just fine and doesn't require a boost.
As one of the uncredited artists in question, that is my choice.
Thank you.

MDBones, I apologize to you. There was a word that was left out in my sentence. I meant to say not all. There are very few entries that made their own tiles for their skin. There are very few that are copyright compliant, and use anything they find on the internet without permission.
I deleted another sentence that I was going to write. It was the fact that I see one of the winners who used art without credit taken from a popular software ad, which is copyright infringement. Janee
